Product Introduction:
Hydraulic pumps are susceptible to wear and performance degradation when operating with fluid containing abrasive particles. A Hydraulic Pump Contamination Resistance Tester simulates real-world operating conditions by circulating contaminated hydraulic fluid through the pump under test while subjecting the pump to specified pressure and flow cycles.
The tester typically consists of a closed hydraulic circuit that includes a reservoir containing a volume of test fluid (hydraulic oil). A controlled amount and type of solid particulate contaminant (often standardized test dust) is added to the fluid and maintained at a specified concentration. The hydraulic pump under test is driven by a motor and circulates this contaminated fluid through the circuit. A loading mechanism (such as a pressure relief valve, restrictor, hydraulic motor, or cylinder) is used to apply a realistic pressure and flow load on the pump.
Throughout the test, which may run for a specified duration (e.g., hundreds or thousands of hours) or number of cycles, key pump performance parameters are continuously or periodically monitored. These parameters include pump speed, inlet and outlet pressures, flow rate (volumetric efficiency), fluid temperature, and sometimes input torque or power (mechanical efficiency). The cleanliness level of the circulating fluid is also monitored using fluid sampling and particle counting (e.g., according to ISO 4406). After the test, the pump's final performance is measured and compared to its initial performance. The pump is often disassembled for detailed inspection and measurement of wear on internal components (e.g., gears, vanes, pistons, bearings, sealing surfaces). The data collected provides valuable insight into the pump's resistance to wear and its ability to maintain performance under contaminated conditions.
The instrument is used for:
Evaluating the wear resistance and durability of hydraulic pumps when operating with contaminated fluid.
Determining the effect of fluid contamination on pump performance (efficiency, flow rate) over time.
Validating pump designs, materials, and manufacturing processes for contamination tolerance.
Benchmarking the contamination resistance of different pump types and manufacturers.
Research and development of more robust hydraulic pumps for demanding applications.
Assessing the impact of different types or concentrations of contaminants on pump life.
Product Advantages:
Provides realistic evaluation of hydraulic pump performance and wear under contaminated operating conditions.
Essential for selecting pumps that can reliably operate in hydraulic systems with expected levels of fluid contamination.
Helps validate pump designs and materials specifically for resistance to abrasive wear.
Provides objective data on pump efficiency degradation and wear progression caused by contamination.
Supports research and development efforts aimed at improving pump robustness.
Crucial for predicting pump lifespan and maintenance requirements in contaminated environments.
